Favorite Christmas Ornaments

These are two of my favorite ornaments on my tree. I like the beaded ball because it sparkles from the reflection of the christmas lights. My mother-in-law had a Pat The Bunny book that she read to all of her grandchildren. It brings back fond memories of my children as babies sitting on Grandma's lap and learning how to reach out grab things and her holding their little hands on the bunny's "fur" to feel the texture. I look forward to my "grandma days" !!!

A Little Christmas In My Kitchen

I didn't make this glass block decoration, but it would be an easy project (if you have the right tools). One glass block with a hole drilled in the bottom. One string of lights in your choice of color and a roll of christmas ribbon !

Our Dog

Being a dog mom, I could not let my new blog go any further without adding our Bichon Frise. This is Riley, he is 9 years old and brings lots of laughs and love to our house !

Christmas decorations for light fixtures

Here's an idea I took from the Lowes decorating magazine last year. I strung gold shear ribbon onto gold ornaments and tied them to the dining room light fixture. The more places there are on the light fixture to hang ornaments off of, the better it will look. Last year we had an OLD light chandelier that had five light sockets on it. The ornament idea looked better last year on the old fixture but this will work too.

Hint: Choose ornament and ribbon color to compliment your wall color.

Christmas Craft Idea

Heres a craft idea we came up with:
Supplies needed are an 8 X 10 inch frame, scrapbooking paper, tags and ribbon.

Christmas Fireplace Mantle

We've got the fireplace mantle decorated. Some of the things, like the candlesticks and bundle of wheat were used at Thanksgiving. We changed out the candle color and the ribbon on the wheat with Christmas colors.

With two dogs in the family, we had to include them in the stocking lineup! We found stockings with dog bones on them and hung them next to the other ones.

Decorating for Christmas

I'm new to the blog world and have been entrenched in it, finding it fascinating and addicting? I enjoy seeing how other women decorate their houses and handle the everyday ups and downs of their lives. This will be my first post. My daughter and I spent most of the day decorating for Christmas, running to 5 or 6 stores to get more goodies, documenting our progression with photos and finally settling down to figure out how to start blogging. The first thing we did today was get the tree up and decorated. 2008 will be the second Christmas in this house. We had a 7 foot tree from our previous home. It looked small in this house with our new higher ceilings, so this year I went to Lowes and purchased a 9 foot tree and LOVE it. Well, I got lots more to post for my Christmas decorating, but will close for today and take this adventure back up tomorrow.
